About Jess

Like I mentioned in our first blog post, I'm currently a freshman in college studying Kinesiology. I'm hoping to graduate a couple of years early so I can go ahead and get a job as a personal trainer while also pursuing a doctorate degree in physical therapy. But we'll see how everything goes first. That's the thing about me, I love being busy. I have to keep moving mentally, physically, and spiritually. When I slow down, that's when I crash and burn.

I'm mainly referencing to my past swimming career (also mentioned in the intro post). I started swimming in the summer league at the age of five. Then I was asked by a coach if I wanted to join a year-round team when I was in about fifth grade. I loved it up until my sophomore year of high school. At that moment I had started to plateau, and I didn't know how to handle it. I wasn't improving, and the frustration had built up to the level where I just had to take a break. So I quit year-round swimming, only sticking to my high school team.

Quitting year-round swimming introduced me to a whole new slew of obstacles. I wasn't exactly worried about my diet when I had three to four hour practices daily. But when that was gone my terrible diet habits immediately led to weight gain. About 27 lbs. Not only that, but without the support of my team mates and the guidance of my coaches I became undisciplined, only working out when I felt like it. My life used to revolve around my swimming schedule, so even my schoolwork suffered when I quit. I started procrastinating more because I had more time without all those practices. So long-story short, I was hitting a steep decline.

I still love health and fitness, but I'm still trying to figure out how to organize my life. I'm hoping this blog will give me the chance to do that. So I'll be working right alongside our readers, organizing my life, setting priorities, reaching goals, and ultimately conquering my dreams. I'm mostly an independent girl, but right now that's not working for me. So I'm ready to receive help and give help to others out there like me. I can't wait to get started!
